Jeffrey S. Barry

Jeffrey S. Barry, a 2003 graduate of the Accounting Honors Program at the Fisher College of Business, is corporate counsel to Schottenstein Stores Corporation in Columbus, Ohio, where he provides tax and corporate legal advice to the parent company of Value City Furniture and American Signature Furniture.

Prior to moving to Columbus to join Schottenstein Stores Corporation in 2010, Jeff maintained a private law practice in his hometown of Los Angeles, California, advising clients on a wide range of matters, including the United States and international tax aspects of the formation of private real estate funds and other collective investment vehicles, the structuring of film and television production transactions, and entity formations.  Jeff also represented clients before the Internal Revenue Service and the United States Tax Court. 

In addition to his private practice, Jeff served as tax counsel to other law firms in the Los Angeles and spoke regularly at various local bar association events.  Immediately, following law school, Jeff worked as an associate in the Boston office of Goodwin Procter LLP, an international law firm, where he specialized in the organization and operation of real estate investment trusts, and advised clients on the tax aspects and structuring of a wide variety of corporate and partnership transactions, as well as international and domestic mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, financings, and dispositions.

Jeff earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law and his L.L.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.  He is admitted to practice in the State of California, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Tax Court.
